Reusable coffee cups are high in demand at the moment. They are a massive and growing trend. There is a huge push to stop using plastic as it has a massive impact on the environment with 1 million disposable cups ending up in landfills every minute globally.
For this reason, lots of business are trying to get rid of single use plastic cups, by introducing incentives to customers to use reusable cups. This creates an opportunity to create a branded reusable cup and so it works as free advertising. When ordering a branded cup, the wait time can be quite long. Here at AK Graphics we have been working hard to find alternative options to the very popular Keep Cup, which have a wait time of 8-10 weeks.
Sol are an alternative option to Keep cups. Their ethos is “ending waste and embracing taste” They have made a reusable cup that is environmentally friendly and won’t compromise your health. This is a high-quality travel/reusable cup. It is made of glass instead of plastic as plastic can be harmful to the human body.
This cup is available in a variety of 13 different colours. If you can’t find a colour to match your brand colours a solution would be to pick the white option and print your logo in the correct colours.
These reusable cups are made from Hand-Blown Glass, and are 100% plastic and chemical free.
– Available in 3 different sizes 8oz, 12oz and 16oz

Your business card is a first impression, a representation of you and your company/business. A memorable business card could lead to more business.
You may be inclined to think that business cards are no longer relevant in the digital age, however they are the most personal element you can give a client. It has the company name and brand, but it also has your name on it. A business card is a marketing tool that is usually delivered face to face. When it comes to networking successfully, a professional-looking business card can do much of the hard work for you. Having a physical card also gives the recipient the chance to reflect later, this isn’t usually done if you have just added each other on LinkedIn.
If you hand a business card to a prospective customer, there is a chance they will go on to show it to someone else. If you simply swap details or tell them to look up your website you’re relying on them to remember the name or website. However, if they have it in their pocket, they have a small piece of your brand.
A business card also helps to communicate that you are prepared and professional. If you have a small business that people may not have heard of, having a business card adds legitimacy to your business. If you don’t have a well-established business a business card can reassure people that your business is the real deal.
A business card can also help make you referable. Once a customer is happy with the work you have done for them, they can recommend you and your business. The person you initially gave the card to may go on to share the card with someone else.
Some interesting techniques that can make your business card stand out:
From integrating your personal brand to making a solid first impression, there are more than enough ways business cards can help you stand out from your competitors.
There are two primary purposes of your business card: represent your brand and provide contact information. The magic is in the mix of these two elements. A great business card is one that is memorable and is an extension of your brand.
Using a graphic designer instead of using a free online template insures your business card will be a success. The text will all be legible and the card won’t be cluttered. It also means you can add some interesting effects to stand out from the crowd. A graphic designer will have knowledge about different print techniques the could really work for your brand.
A good business card can help make all the difference. The key to a great business card is one that people are hesitant to throw away. Great design will make people want to hold onto your card. The following are some example’s of business cards that are well designed, eye catching and hard to forget.
–A Personal Touch
Using rubber stamps to place your logo on your card makes it feel much more personal, since you’ve taken the time to stamp each individual one, which shows you have an investment in your company or business. This technique would work particularly well for a company with a craft or handmade focus.
Changing the orientation from horizontal to vertical can make your card stand out. Here is an example of a portrait/vertical professional business card.

Using a die cut to make a simple graphic more interesting. Here is a creative example of a business card for a cheese company cleverly using a die cut so it looks like a real piece of cheese.

Using a textured card or a textured lamination can make your business card feel more luxurious
Using cork or wood if relevant to your business. There are many interesting materials available to print your business card on. We have a great knowledge in relation to this and can advise you. Here is an example of a wooden business card which is very unique.

Utilising a sleeve with a peekaboo window can give you a two for one when it comes to the inner design. Here is an example of a business card with a sleeve and die cut. The design is simple yet very effective. The outer card creating a tooth with a cavity, the inner card having all the relevant information.

Creating a completely unique shaped business card can help you stand out from the crowd. Here is an example where a pineapple shape was used. The card was also printed in two colours, making it very eye-catching.

A very clever use of a business card is to combine it with a free item to promote your business. Here is a great example where a hairdresser gives out hair pins.
Walsh Whiskey Distillery business card with foil.
Foil can really make a business stand out. It looks amazing and people then want to keep your card. Here is an example of a premium business card that AK Graphics designed. The use of foil on this card makes it stand out. Foil also adds an expensive look to your card which can imply that you are willing to spend money on your business.
–Simple design with bright contrasting colours.
Here is another example of a business card that AK Graphics designed, this card is very professional looking and the use of a bright colour makes it memorable.

This is a question that we get asked on a regular basis. Our advice to our clients is to not focus all their attention on selecting a promotional giveaway product but to also consider how it can be branding and customised.
By taking a little more time and using AKGraphics’ creativity we can customise your promotional item in a way that will create far more impact than applying your company logo to everything in the same way.
It might be difficult to understand why you would want a custom branded promotional item that might not have your company logo on it. Surely that’s the entire point of promotional items?
AKGraphics recently designed a suite of different promotional items for The Digital Hub in Dublin. The designs that we created for the customised promotional items will help to illustrate the idea that by using a professional graphic design agency more impact will be achieved.
The full list of promotional items designed for The Digital Hub include pen, pencil, sticker, notepads, notebook, Keepcup and tote bag.
Looking at each promotional item it is clear that there is a strong sense of brand and the designs reflect The Digital Hub’s overall identity as a whole. The items are used at events and they are already getting a great reaction and proving popular.
In particular, larger items allow for more creative customisation. The screen printed tote bag features a design that was created specifically to maximise the available print area. A well designed promotional tote bag, that appeals to a wide audience, will be used again and again. Each time the bag is used your company get more exposure and as such the tote bag serves as a type of free advertising.
The high-end leather-bound notebook was designed by us to achieve a luxurious look and feel. The custom design is debossed into the leather surface which creates a tactile 3D effect. The Digital Hub’s logo is nowhere to be seen in this design, yet as you can see the design still works to promote the company.
Rather than going with a standard lined notepad we used the brand colours to create a bold background. These customised notepads are idea for sketching ideas and writing notes and their impact is huge in terms of brand awareness.
KeepCup are a brand of reusable coffee cups that are stylish, fun and colourful. They were the perfect choise for the Digital Hub to use as a promotional item. There are many different colour combinations available from KeepCup. As part of our design service we selected a colour combination to reflect the Digital Hub brand. The band was branded with the company’s logo. Bespoke KeepCups are an impressive promotional item. They can be given to employees or clients and act as a constant marketing tool.
The smaller promotional items such as the pen and pencil were also designed to maximise brand awareness. They are an effective way to make a great first impression without a large financial investment. Customers love a free pen and if it’s a good quality pen is will be used often and will remind them of your brand each time.
Overall The Digital Hub were delighted with all of the promotional items that we designed for them.
We LOVE our Keep Cups – they are fab and anyone lucky enough to get one so far is delighted! I wanted to thank you and your team for all your help on this project. I know that I’m not easy to work with so thanks for all you patience and help (note from AKGraphics: Ruth was a perfect client!). You all have been a pleasure to deal with! Overall it’s been a great success and we are delighted with all the material that we have received. I look forward to working with you in the future. Ruth Flynn, Client Services Manager, Digital Hub Development Agency, Dublin

We’ll make suggestions on the items themselves and once products are selected we will create designs for each item to ensure your brand is portrayed in the best possible way.
The team here at AKGraphics were asked to come up with a company rebrand design for Ormonde Machinery Ltd. Ormonde Machinery is a leading supplier of quality construction mining, quarrying and recycling equipment. The company supplies a broad range of equipment to satisfy the demands of a growing customer base both within Ireland and overseas.
The new identity design had to by dynamic and communicate the mechanical aspects of the business. Our logo rebrand could be adapted to be used on both a black background and a white background. The bold, capitalised font communicates that the company is strong, with the triangles complimenting the design with a mechanical element. This company rebrand has since been adapted to corporate stationery, signage, promotional clothing, adverts, various trade show graphics material, large promotional stickers for use on the machines, and vehicle graphics.
The stationary above was designed using the new identity design for Ormonde Machinery, again strong bold colours to make Ormonde Machinery stand out from its competitors. This stationary design included letterheads, compliment slips and double sided business cards. The stationary design was coherent with the new brand guidelines which were also set by AKGraphics. Graphic headers was also supplied to Ormonde Machinery for various social media platforms also.
Advert designs followed shortly after, to promote the Ormonde Machinery service and main dealers offerings. These advertising designs also followed the brand guidelines and adopted a new style which kept the overall look of the Ormande Machinery rebrand.
The next step was to brand the Ormonde Machinery Technical Support vehicle, which travels nationwide throughout Ireland. Our logo design was applied to the vehicle along with contact details and the web address designed in the new Ormonde Machinery style. The photographs above show our custom vehicle graphics applied.
A large service sticker design followed the vehicle graphics. This had to be visible from a distance and also follow the new brand guidelines for the Ormonde Machinery rebrand. Again a great use of daily advertising for Ormonde Machinery to promote the service offering and the website.
The Ormonde Machinery staff also required promotional clothing for various outdoor and indoor trade shows. Trade show graphics also consisted of pull up banners, signage, flags and other promotional material.

AKGraphics had the pleasure of working with McLoughlin Architecture, Naas, Co. Kildare, in creating a new corporate identity. The new logo design for the Kildare based company captures the clean lines and modern feel that McLoughlin Architecture wanted to portray. An important part of professional logo design is selecting a colour palette appropriate to the brand tone.

On average, a company will change their logo once every seven to ten years. This often involves restyling logos, changing colours, visual language and the photographic style. A company might want to rebrand because of a number of factors including:
A change of business strategy.
To keep up with design trends when a logo looks outdated.
To project a new image to customers.
To reposition themselves in the marketplace.
To refocus their brand strategy.
To relaunch their company.
To revitalise the brand personality.
To reconnect with their target market.
To make their promotional material, both online and print more consistent.
