Creating an engaging and friendly environment is important for any business to set the tone of their workplace. Designing an attractive setting for customers when they first come in by using creative wall graphics is a great way to welcome people. A happy workspace for your employees creates a positive atmosphere and is likely to boost productivity and morale.
At AKGraphics we have a vast experience designing wall graphics for all spaces. Any space big or small can be transformed from something plain and dull to something engaging and colourful. Whether that’s wall graphics, signage, or window vinyl, we will design it to suit your specific space. Create a workplace that represents you and your business and leaves a lasting impression for both your workers and customers.
We recently designed wall graphics for our own office here at AKGraphics. We wanted to introduce colour to bring life to the office and remove the blank white walls. By using bright colours and patterns we created a more engaging feel as you walk into the office. We designed a bespoke backlit circular frame featuring our company logo. Additional privacy was achieved by adding window graphics to our entrance area. We also designed new subtle wall graphics for our meeting room, by using white vinyl letters over clear perspex.
Adrenaline HPL approached AKGraphics to develop wall graphics for their new Human Performance Laboratory, offices and gym. Adrenaline HPL had an established brand and logo so we focused on developing this branding for a range of interior office signage. As Adrenaline HPL share the building with other companies it was vital that clients were clear on the location of their office. Each and every piece of the signage reflects Adrenaline HPL’s branding. This attention to detail ensures that the overall look is extremely professional while remaining welcoming for clients.
AKGraphics was asked to add colour and life to Ben Dunne Gyms, but the client also requested that the same design concept could be adapted for all Ben Dunne Gyms (whether large or small). Taking into consideration the new paint colours, the new interior graphics with vivid splashes of colour, swirls of curved lines and branded graphics we created a much fresher feel within the gyms. The final result for Ben Dunne Gyms was welcomed by all gym members. Once we completed one or two gyms it was easy for Ben Dunne Gyms to adapt the same design theme/concept and roll out the new interior feel to other gyms within the group.

We all have a favourite colour. As designers we know that colour is an element that can change how a visual is perceived.
So what’s your favourite colour? If you are like the majority of the population then your favourite colour is blue!
deep blue sea water with white cloud over sky
Row of colorful flip flops on old weathered blue painted beach decking. Space for copy.
Throughout our years working in design we have noticed that there is rarely a probably with the colour blue. However there can often be a problem with the colour green! In particular lime green! People just don’t seem to like that colour!
According to studies we subconsciously decide our favourite colour based on an object or elements around us that are that colour. For example, blue represents fresh water, oceans, and summer skies. This explains why people favour different colours. You favour a colour based on what you associate that colour with.
Many people hate the colour yellow also. Which is odd as yellow is often associated with happiness and joy. However a number of studies have shown that yellow can cause dizziness and nausea for this reason it is often used sparingly or strategically in advertisements.
You may even be afraid of certain colours! Chromatophobia refers to an irrantional fear of of certain colours. Have you a fear of any colours??
Do you require creative innovative effective graphics for your equine industry based company or organisation?
Or do you need to up your game in relation to your current graphics for your equestrian service offering?
When choosing a graphic design company knowing that they have experience in your industry can help save time and money.
With over 24 years’ experience, we know a thing or two about offering a one-of-a-kind, tailored and personal approach that fits our customers’ needs. AKGraphics serves a wide range of markets but have a particular interest in producing high quality graphic design for the equine industry. With clients all over Ireland, AKGraphics are proud to be associated with some well know names such as Weatherbys Ireland, the Irish Racehorse Trainers Association and P.A. Solutions.
AKGraphics create creative design solutions specific to the equine industry that will appeal to your particular target market. We listen to our customers and we ensure that we understand their requirements before we begin any design projects. This approach results in a design solution that is above and beyond the current industry standard.
Whether you require a design for a logo, a race card advert, an online advertisement or large graphics for a show or horse truck consider AKGraphics for your professional equine graphics.
Below you’ll find examples of professional artwork AKGraphics created for some of our equine clients.
Punchestown is an important time in the equine calendar, Weatherbys Ireland required a race card advert design, screen graphics and promotional pull up banners for this event. Obviously before we designed any material for Weatherbys Ireland we made sure we understood the Weatherbys’ brand in full. When working with a new client we request a copy of their brand guideline so that we can review in full. We are then aware of the do’s and dont’s regarding the brand. AKGraphics ensures that our graphics adhere to brand guidelines as this creates consistency across different marketing material. We can improve current graphics but yet not go off direction which is important to remember. The next stage of any project is to gather the correct content. That content should consist of professional horse related photography and well written text. All photography supplied to AKGraphics will be reviewed by us to confirm if the images will scale to the print requirements required. We can also source unique photography for our clients if required. By controlling the imagery used a professional overall look can be achieved for every design. Regarding text content, we will review and read in full first to establish what the key message is. Your intended target market for these specific equine design projects should instantly be aware of your message. Once AKGraphics receives and reviews all of the project elements we can then begin the design presentation proposal for our client, creating some varied design options. In this particular case Weatherbys reviewed and shared the design options with their marketing team. Feedback is then required, AKGraphics welcome our clients feedback on any design presentation, as you the customer know your business inside-out and AKGraphics are the visual communicators to represent you in a way that reflects your business and services. Upon written approval of the chosen design concepts for the Weatherbys Ireland Race Card Advert, Screen Graphics and Pull Up Banners we then prepared the final artwork for the chosen printer plus provided final PDFs for email or web purposes. Producing visual results that represent Weatherbys Ireland in a professional manner in the Irish Horse Racing world was an interesting and creative process. Looking forward to partnering with Weatherbys Ireland in the near future.
AKGraphics build ongoing relationships with our equine clients, like any business trust is required in developing successful partnerships. AKGraphics work with many businesses to become their chosen graphic design company. We also partner with some businesses by offering an overflow service, these companies have in-house design teams but use AKGraphics on a regular basis to work on the overflow of design projects that can be required at busy times. The design and marketing departments in these companies trust the experienced AKGraphics team with their brand, safe in the knowledge that we will deliver on time and on budget. As you can imagine, this means that AKGraphics are just as comfortable working within existing brand guidelines as we are creating new ones.
Another equine design project recently completed by AKGraphics, working in partnership with P.A.Solutions, was for IRTA Champions Dinner 2018. While P.A. Solutions role was event management for the IRTA, AKGraphics designed the detailed programme for The Champions Dinner plus the promotional wide pull up banners used for press photography on the night. AKGraphics also designed the detailed slide presentation which was displayed on the widescreen backdrop for the night, which consisted of roughly 90 different slides in total. This slick slide presentation was very visually enticing for the audience on the night, highlighting the many different equine awards and sponsors. Awards consisted of Champion & Leading National Hunt, Champion Trainer, Champion Jockey, Champion Apprentice, Champion Conditional Rider, Champion Amateur Rider, Champion Lady Amateur Rider, Leading Flat Owner, Champion Flat Jockey, Champion Flat Trainer, Champion National Hunt, Champion & Leading National Hunt Trainer and Champion Amateur Rider. The top talent of the Irish Racing world was recognised by the Irish Racehorse Trainers Association so it was essential that the graphic design reflected the professional and celebratory nature of the event.
Other design work completed on behalf of P.A. Solutions includes design for business cards for the IRTA, a generic advert design for P.A. Solutions for use in various programmes etc., a pull up banner for P.A. Solutions and a promotional A5 brochure for the IRTA for the ITBA Expo 2018 in Goffs Sales Complex, Kildare.
A truly comprehensive 2018 Thoroughbred Wall Planner for P.A. Solutions was designed to A1 size as a double sided informative wall planner that highlights Ireland & UK equine events such as Race meetings in Ireland & UK, Point to Points, Horse Sales in Tattersalls Ireland & UK, Goresbridge, Goffs Ireland & UK, Arqana and Keeneland. Each event description on this wall planner is colour coded so that it is easier for the user to view each event per month. This is a great promotional tool for P.A. Solutions to distribute to its equine customers.

Your business card is a first impression, a representation of you and your company/business. A memorable business card could lead to more business.
You may be inclined to think that business cards are no longer relevant in the digital age, however they are the most personal element you can give a client. It has the company name and brand, but it also has your name on it. A business card is a marketing tool that is usually delivered face to face. When it comes to networking successfully, a professional-looking business card can do much of the hard work for you. Having a physical card also gives the recipient the chance to reflect later, this isn’t usually done if you have just added each other on LinkedIn.
If you hand a business card to a prospective customer, there is a chance they will go on to show it to someone else. If you simply swap details or tell them to look up your website you’re relying on them to remember the name or website. However, if they have it in their pocket, they have a small piece of your brand.
A business card also helps to communicate that you are prepared and professional. If you have a small business that people may not have heard of, having a business card adds legitimacy to your business. If you don’t have a well-established business a business card can reassure people that your business is the real deal.
A business card can also help make you referable. Once a customer is happy with the work you have done for them, they can recommend you and your business. The person you initially gave the card to may go on to share the card with someone else.
Some interesting techniques that can make your business card stand out:
From integrating your personal brand to making a solid first impression, there are more than enough ways business cards can help you stand out from your competitors.
There are two primary purposes of your business card: represent your brand and provide contact information. The magic is in the mix of these two elements. A great business card is one that is memorable and is an extension of your brand.
Using a graphic designer instead of using a free online template insures your business card will be a success. The text will all be legible and the card won’t be cluttered. It also means you can add some interesting effects to stand out from the crowd. A graphic designer will have knowledge about different print techniques the could really work for your brand.
A good business card can help make all the difference. The key to a great business card is one that people are hesitant to throw away. Great design will make people want to hold onto your card. The following are some example’s of business cards that are well designed, eye catching and hard to forget.
–A Personal Touch
Using rubber stamps to place your logo on your card makes it feel much more personal, since you’ve taken the time to stamp each individual one, which shows you have an investment in your company or business. This technique would work particularly well for a company with a craft or handmade focus.
Changing the orientation from horizontal to vertical can make your card stand out. Here is an example of a portrait/vertical professional business card.
Xenon business card, designed by AK Graphics. We also designed this logo.
Using a die cut to make a simple graphic more interesting. Here is a creative example of a business card for a cheese company cleverly using a die cut so it looks like a real piece of cheese.
Die cut cheese business card. Design not by AKGraphics.
Using a textured card or a textured lamination can make your business card feel more luxurious
Using cork or wood if relevant to your business. There are many interesting materials available to print your business card on. We have a great knowledge in relation to this and can advise you. Here is an example of a wooden business card which is very unique.

Utilising a sleeve with a peekaboo window can give you a two for one when it comes to the inner design. Here is an example of a business card with a sleeve and die cut. The design is simple yet very effective. The outer card creating a tooth with a cavity, the inner card having all the relevant information.
Sleeve business card. Design not by AKGraphics.
Creating a completely unique shaped business card can help you stand out from the crowd. Here is an example where a pineapple shape was used. The card was also printed in two colours, making it very eye-catching.

A very clever use of a business card is to combine it with a free item to promote your business. Here is a great example where a hairdresser gives out hair pins.
Walsh Whiskey Distillery business card with foil.
Foil can really make a business stand out. It looks amazing and people then want to keep your card. Here is an example of a premium business card that AK Graphics designed. The use of foil on this card makes it stand out. Foil also adds an expensive look to your card which can imply that you are willing to spend money on your business.
–Simple design with bright contrasting colours.
Here is another example of a business card that AK Graphics designed, this card is very professional looking and the use of a bright colour makes it memorable.

Selling homes is a competitive business. By hiring a creative design agency, like AKGraphics, you will find that the finished designs in your marketing tools will truly capture the positioning of your property development. At AKGraphics we use our design skills to produce property marketing material that will give your property campaign the greatest chance of success. Our expertise will result in a property brochure design that delivers real results.
Just as each property development is different, the approach to marketing and sales will also be unique. With over 20 years’ experience, AKGraphics can offer advice and suggestions for property marketing in relation to your new development launch.
5 ways to ensure your property sales brochure delivers real results
A potential buyer will most likely view a number of different properties in different developments before making their final decision. Give your development an advantage by having a unique property brochure that will remind them about the aspects of your homes that they loved. Your property development brochure design can be unique in terms of size, finish or by using an interesting viewpoint. It is essential to leave a lasting impression on anyone considering investing in your property development. We are always more than happy to make suggestions that will give your property brochure an edge that will keep your homes in the forefront of any potential buyers’ minds.
Use visuals that sell a lifestyle
Even if your development is not yet completed it is possible to allow potential home buyers to see how their new home will look. Using photo-realistic images of the exterior and even interiors will work much better than flat room plans on their own. Also using captivating photography of the locality helps you to present a vision of the buyers’ ideal home.
Write copy that captivates
While a comprehensive list of fixtures and fittings is important you should also include information on the location, history of the development, future plans and company credentials. The tone and wording used should also convey the type of property on offer and appeal to your specific target market. A housing development brochure, selling one bedroom luxury apartments in a city location should contain different information than one selling family homes in the countryside because the target buyers will have different interests and requirements. We can assist with making suggestions on text content or can supply a copywriting service as an add-on to our graphic design service.
Create a distinct design that fits
Our designs create a sense of luxury and exclusivity, or affordability and family-friendliness. One is not better than the other, but reflects the attributes of your specific property. The design of your property development brochure will impact how your property is perceived. For example, if your development is highly desirable and at the higher end of the housing market, your marketing material should reflect this. House buyers, in the market for luxurious homes, will expect a beautifully designed brochure with high-end, bespoke, print finishes such as foil and embossing. We work closely with estate agents, private equity firms and, property development companies to fully understand their target market before beginning any design project which results in a brochure that will appeal to those people.
Ensure your brochure is accessible to all
While printed property brochures are a key marketing tool, it is also important that the same brochure design is deliverable in a digital format. We always supply the printed brochure design as an email-able pdf, with animated turning pages if desired. Of course, if you feel a printed brochure is not required we can design a digital brochure only and the same care and attention is applied to each property design project regardless of the intended end use.
The above are just 5 aspects of brochure design to keep in mind in relation to cultivating effective property development branding and selling new homes. Of course, we have for more advice and design expertise that we can offer. You can view some previous property design projects that we have completed here. Whether you are a selling agent, property developer or private equity firm we can help. To arrange a meeting or to make an enquiry simply call Anne on 059-9133633 or email email@example.com
We’ve gathered up some inspiration for retail display that will help create impact for your products.
When diving into Retail Display, whether it be a Pop-Up Shop, Free Standing Display Unit, Shelf Space or Floor Graphics, there are many considerations you should make regarding design and the science of visual merchandising. Your sales space has to be efficient and productive as your retail display is effectively your main salesperson and focal point. Often, the more stylish, creative and outlandish your retail display is, the bigger lure you have over potential customers. The end goal is to make your business stand out from your competitors and the best way to achieve this is through strong and effective design.
FREE STANDING DISPLAY UNITS
Free Standing Display Units (FSDU) are the main tools used for Point-of-Sale which are utilised by retailers and marketing teams. Free Standing Display Units are perfect for displaying new products or a promotional offer. FSDU’s are also very effective in enhancing brand awareness among existing customers and new customers. Having a high quality Free Standing Display Unit not only raises your brand profile but also increases product sales. Free Standing Display Units are typically made for temporary use, however, the advantages of creating a bespoke, high quality display unit are far greater. Take Walsh Whiskey Distillery for example. Walsh Whiskey Distillery recently had bespoke Free Standing Display Units created to be displayed as part of their Pop-Up Shop in Terminal 2 of Dublin Airport. The Pop-Up Shop remained on display in Dublin Airport for 2 months as part of a marketing campaign to raise brand awareness and increase product sales. However, after the 2 months passed, instead of discarding the Free Standing Display Units, Walsh Whiskey Distillery were able to reuse the display units in their own whiskey distillery based in Carlow. By Walsh Whiskey Distillery making the decision to make a high end Free Standing Display Unit and Pop-Up Shop, they not only made a lasting impression in Terminal 2 of Dublin Airport during peak season, but they were able to make use of the display units again ultimately maximising their value for money.
Example of how Walsh Whiskey Distillery has high quality bespoke Free Standing Display Units built to display in Terminal 2 of Dublin Airport. Due to the quality of materials used and high end finish they were able to reuse them in their own distillery afterwards. Design by AKGraphics.

HIGHLIGHTING SHELF SPACE FOR RETAIL DISPLAY
Highlighting Shelf Space is another important aspect to considering when contemplating diving into Retail Display. Making you product stand out from the rest of your competitors can some times be a tricky task, however, by highlighting shelf space and creating a separate section for your products, you not only allow your product to stand out, but it also gives your brand a sense of superiority and prestige. Highlighting Shelf Space makes your brand look special, so special that it has its own section. This effect can be achieved by framing the shelf space with some branding, this would be the simplest solution as you are still using the existing shelves. Another solution to highlight shelf space is to have a box built into the shelf, this allows you create more interesting shelves and generally lets you customise your shelf space more creatively.
Glenfiddich utilised their shelf space by having a box built into the shelves. This allowed them to create interesting and intricate shelves which enhances the display of their products. Design not by AKGraphics.
LARGE AND SMALL SCALE FLOOR GRAPHICS FOR RETAIL DISPLAY
Another alternative option for retail display is creating floor graphics, or floor stickers, as some people refer to them as. Displaying your brand as floor graphics opens the door for your business to be very creative and innovative, whilst still maintaining the corporate style. Designs for Floor graphics that are large and very effective as they often cannot be overlooked. Floor graphics can vary in size, from large aisle-long graphics to small and medium sized floor stickers. Because the large floor graphics are often very eye catching, it means the smaller sized floor graphics often have to be more innovative – making the passer by to take notice and remember the message.
Heineken used large floor graphics in this supermarket to promote the release of their new product, “Heineken Light”. The huge, aisle-long graphics are impossible not to miss. Design not by AKGraphics.
Fox’s used a small floor graphic, however, by being innovative and creative they were able to get equal impact to a large floor sticker design. Design not by AKGraphics.
UNUSUAL MATERIALS USED FOR RETAIL DISPLAY
Retail Displays are often made out of cardboard, however, a whole range of material can be used and considered as an alternative. Wood, metal, plastic, concrete and glass are just some of the materials that can be used to display your retail space. Often, for temporary display units cardboard is used which is limited in terms of what you can do with it. However, an alternative to this is Re-Board. Re-Board is a rigid paperboard, it is lightweight which makes it perfect for temporary display units, however, it is extremely strong which means it could be used for short and long term retail display units. Re-Board can be printed directly onto which allows you to mimic different material such as wood and metal. Re-Board could be used for both Free Standing Display Units (FSDU) and for Highlighting Shelf Space.
Example of Re-Board used to create a tall Free Standing Display Unit (FSDU). Design not by AKGraphics.
Example of how textures can be printed on to Re-Board to create a more expensive and exclusive finish. Design not by AKGraphics.
EXTRAVAGANT AND CLEVER RETAIL DISPLAY UNITS
Some Businesses can go over the top with their retail display, however, they often have a big reward. More extravagant retail displays and crafty retail display unit have more of a chance the passer by will take notice, remember and importantly tell others about it. Whether this is from just sheer size or a combination of huge scale, lights, unusual materials, clever marketing and effective design – the result is often the same, increase in product sales.
Red Bull went for huge scale and innovative thinking and decided to build their own Formula 1 car out of Re-Board to display their energy drinks. This was both promoting their energy drink product and their car which races regularly in Formula 1. Design not by AKGraphics.
Hendricks used a mixture of witty marketing and unusual materials to successfully promote their gin in this display unit. A bathtub that dispenses gin caught many customers attention. Design not by AKGraphics.
Hopefully some of the above ideas have grabbed your attention. If you required your own bespoke retail display design you can contact Anne on 059 9133633 or email firstname.lastname@example.org

Through designing and creating the Walsh Whiskey Pop-up shop in Terminal 2 in Dublin airport we have gained the knowledge of how to go about this exciting retail venture. Here at AKGraphics we can help you through this process, we can collaborate our ideas together to get the most out the retail space. A “pop-up shop” is a short-term, temporary retail event that is “here today, gone tomorrow”. Pop-up retail is the temporary use of physical space to create a long term, lasting impression with potential customers.
It allows any enterprising individual to try out their ideas. It is a cheaper solution to all year rentals that reaches out to a new demographic. There is the possibility for online retailers to gain footfall particularly with the busier seasons.
Thinking of opening a pop-up shop but don’t know where to begin? We have gathered our inspiration sources that shows a variety of approaches for this creative retail solutions. The following are the top visual merchandising approaches that we are excited to use on these retail ventures. (Please note images below are to visual merchandising and display graphics only and are not showing design work from AKGraphics) You can view some of our visual merchandising for the Walsh Whiskey Pop-up shop here.
Dressing Bare Walls
Dressing up the Pop-up shop retail space can dramatically change this space. Well designed wall graphics can convert the bare walls into a whole new retail environment. Display stands can be created in keeping with the design of the wall graphics and branding to create a consistent shop appearance. The graphics can be fitted and finished in a variety of amazing techniques but can also be specifically designed to adapt to a new space.
A New Space for the Brand
By changing the retail space the product is normally viewed it catches attention and can have a lasting brand impact. A short-term shop can take a product out of its normal sale space and offer a new light, most products are sold in shops with hundreds of other options, giving your product its own space really drives home the brand and all the products it has to offer. It’s the perfect space for a product launch event. It can also gain a new demographic and more footfall.
Fashion Pop-up Shop Design
What to do when you’re facing a tight budget? Experiment with creative materials. It can display the fantastic workmanship that goes in to a Pop-up Store. Using simple display can create a different appeal. These three fashion Pop-up Shops use a very different approach using effective graphic design and visual merchandising.
How to Define the Shop in a Open Space
Kiosk-styled stands are the perfect opportunity to create a new Pop-up display, particularly in large open spaces such as airports and shopping centres. Using different structures really define the environment and subtle touches like floor graphics help to create this temporary retail space. By defining the space it creates a new retail environment that grabs the attention of passers by.
Design of Visual Window Graphics
Visual window displays may be the first thing anyone sees and needs to have a lasting effect. This promotion display needs to right amount of pull to intrigue your audience and get foot traffic. Our attention span nowadays is short so this retail display needs to demand attention using text, colour, shape and engaging with the environment around. It can really highlight the product and create brand awareness.
Weird and Wonderful
Sometimes pulling out all the stops can be a real pay-off. For these temporary retail ventures they created a new environment with an eye-catching appeal. These Pop-up shops and custom event furniture offer such different products but created a unique retail experience. These structures are movable and can be brought to any location. It is valuable retail opportunity that maximises the brand exposure.
If you have an idea to create a Pop-up shop for your brand, but don’t know where to start you can contact us to arrange a meeting to have a chat about the different options. We can then put together a proposal and work with you to design a pop-up shop and create the perfect retail space that will create a buzz around your brand.
